About
AN INTERNATIONAL COMICS FESTIVAL
Since 2007, every year we bring the best comics from all over the world to Bologna, Italy. And through those comics we try to read the world we live in. We do this with our exhibitions - the core feature of BilBOlbul -, and a program of panels, talks, performances, and workshops.
BilBOlbul hosted some of the greatest contemporary cartoonists: Chris Ware, Nora Krug, Charles Burns, Lilli Carré, David B., Eric Lambé, Atak, Yvan Alagbé...
BilBOlbul is also the place where comics meets the city: our programme expands throuh more than 84 locations: galleries, museums, bookstores, libraries, bars, restaurants.
A WAY TO PROMOTE VISUAL LITERACY
When it comes to promoting comics, nothing is more effective than growing new readers.
During the festival we host BBB Kids, a programme of workshops, exhibitions and activities dedicated to children and teenagers.
CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR TEACHERS AND LIBRARIANS
Our efforts to promote visual literacy go beyond the festival: all year long, we teach courses aimed at teachers, librarians, and education professionals who wish to introduce comics in their work; we organize comics workshops for children and teenagers in public schools and libraries, and book clubs for adults and teenagers.
A WAY TO SUPPORT LOCAL BOOKSTORES
BilBOlbul works with a network of independent bookstores located all across Italy, with which we organise book tours and in-store events.
