Two friends bump into each other: it's been a long time since they have last met, and they spend the night together reminiscing. Here is the plot of The Lie and How We Told It, the graphic novel that revealed Tommi Parrish as one of the most original talents of contemporary comics.

Hidden behind this apparently simple plot, lies the very substance of life: the sadness of lost love, the anxiety for an uncertain future, the disillusionment caused by things that did not go as we wanted. Each strip is filled with a deep humanity that bears no project nor judgment.

Parrish leaves part of their drawings unfinished, uses images to accompany our gaze, and plays with colours and lines to give life to bodies capable of saying a lot more than words. It is as if they pressed the "reset" button and showed us what comics can do all over again.

The Lie and How We Told It, published in Italy by Diabolo Edizioni for BilBOlbul, is the core of the exhibition, that also explores the rest of Parrish's work, from short stories to illustrations.
